The Natural Park of the Sierra de Tejada, Almijara & Alhama in Andalusia is a great area for hiking. Here you are in the Axarquia region, far away from mass tourism and in the middle of nature! It is a varied and wild area, intersected with beautiful hiking trails.
To the top or rather along the river?
The summits of the impressive Maroma (2067m) and Lucero (1779m) mountains can both be climbed during a tough day's hike. But also several shorter and lighter hikes are possible. Fast-flowing mountain streams and rivers, irrigation channels and fields from Moorish times are alternated with rugged precipices, mountain peaks rising high into the blue sky and authentic white mountain villages. Olive, orange and almond trees grow on the sun-drenched terraces around the villages.
